Explanation

Form a yes or no question by moving the auxiliary before the subject, or by adding do, does or did when there is no auxiliary. Short answers repeat the auxiliary and never repeat the main verb.

Examples

  • Have you finished the report?
  • Does she drive to work?
  • Yes, I have.

Common mistakes

  • You have finished the report?

    Have you finished the report?

    Auxiliary comes first.

  • Does she drives to work?

    Does she drive to work?

    Base verb after does.
