Explanation

One-syllable adjectives take -er and -est. Adjectives of two or more syllables usually take more and most. Irregular forms include good, better, best and bad, worse, worst. Use than after a comparative.

  • She is the most patient teacher I know.
  • The second attempt was worse.

Common mistakes
